What are the disadvantages to mobile vet services
1) More expensive (paying for travel time)
2) limited procedures can be done
3) difficult to schedule
4) limited people to help carry and restrain
5) inconvenient if supplies are forgotten
6) increased risk of theft
What are 3 types of euthanasia?
1) Behavioral/ Medical:
2) imminent/ Medical: Activly ill
3) non-imminent: the patient is not actively dying but has a poor prognosis or convenient
4-6 things that can be discovered during a consult that can alter the surgery plan.

Acceptance – accepting new reality without their pet
What are the steps we must take to ensure euthanasia appointments run smoothly?
1) Get client into room right away
2) have paperwork ready to go
3) notify team of their arrival
4) determine COR options and memento’s they would like
5) complete billing prior to procedure
6) explain the process of the procedure
7) confirm contact info so we can call them when remains arrive
What steps can we take before euthanasia if there is a behavioural concern?
Recommend training
treating for pain
treating for illness + disease
re-homing
What are 4-7 factors we assess to determine if a pet has QOL?
Eating
drinking normally
eliminating normally
changes in mobility
experiencing joy
managing pain
expressing normal behaviours
What important considerations must we take when evaluating an animal for behavioural euthanasia?
1) Is there a safety risk if this animal returns home
2) is there a chance at rehabilitation
3) can this animal have good QOL in a shelter
Why must we ask about Bite history when scheduling a euthansia?
To rule out potential rabies exposure especially in unvaccinated dogs
Why do we only vaccinate healthy animals?
If an animal is suffering from illness, their immune systems are heavily occupied with that. Vaccinating can stress their immune systems too much, causing them to become sicker
Parasite control for the next year is based on what 3 things?
