Cerebral Cortex£
The outer layer of the brain’s neural tissue - consciousness, memory, intelligence, and language and personality. Senses. 2 hemispheres (left and right)
Cerrebellum
Controls balance, co-ordination of movement and muscular activity.
Cerebrum£
The largest part of the brain, the cerebrum initiates and coordinates movement and regulates temperature. Other areas of the cerebrum enable speech, judgment, thinking and reasoning, problem-solving, emotions and learning. Other functions relate to vision, hearing, touch and other senses.
The medulla
The medulla, which controls unconscious activities such as heart rate and breathing rate.
Hypohalumus
Regulating centre for temperature and water balance within the body. Sends signals to our pituitary gland.
