We know the Cratchits home is smaller than Scrooges but gives a more welcoming and friendly feeling as it is warm and there is lots going on. Shows how the cratchits home is more of a home than Scrooges as it is warmer and more welcoming even if it is smaller

Scrooge realises what joy he has missed out on and feels at home in 5 minutes which shows the reader that it’s not about how the home looks but it’s about the people inside it that make it a home. Scrooge feels at home in 5 minutes because he is with his family

Scrooges father was cruel growing up nut fan tries to invite him back saying his father is nicer now but Scrooge refuses. This may be the reason why he has never wanted to go to Christmas dinner with Fred because he doesn’t realise how happy he will feel in a good welcoming home
