Q

In what measure are the gifts that were exercised by the Apostles manifest today?

A

all gifts are still available today. It is the one and only spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decies which gift each person should have.

  • Primary purpose of miraculous gifts at the time of the Apostles was to prove that the gospel was true and that the apostles were truly God’s messengers.

Acts 14:3 And the Lord proved their message was true by giving them power to do miraculous signs and wonders.

  • Gift of prophesy - new revelation from God. We now believe Canon is complete,
  • So - miracles and prophesy may not be given to the same extent they were.

Q

What is the difference between baptism of the Holy Spirit and filling with the Holy Spirit?

A
  • The Scripture seems to teach that the baptism with the Holy Spirit takes place at the moment of salvation. (I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit)
  • The filling of the Holy Spirit is something that occurs repeatedly after the person is saved. Paul tells believers to “Be filled with the Spirit”. (Eph 5:18) - speaking to those who were already Christians.
