The July Bomb Plot

  • 20th July 1940
  • Germany struggling in war
  • Operation Valkyrie said SA would take over
  • Stauffenberg planted bomb in suitcase by hitler, but someone moved it. Staffenburg left, and heard bomb go off, thought Hitler had died.
  • 180-200 plotters were killed by piano wire

Catholic Church

  • Hitler did not follow the concordat, and after disputes of the terms of those with genetic diseases, he continued to harass Catholic priests
  • In March 1937, the Pope spoke out condemning attacks on the Nazis
  • As a result, the Nazis stepped down, but still closed down church schools

  • He worked as a carpenter in a Beer Hall and made a hole in a pillar for a bomb
  • Hitler arrived at the Beer Hall for a meeting, but had to leave early due to weather conditions, so he survived.
  • Elser was sent to a conc camp

  • In January 1943, Jews fired upon German troops as they rounded up another group of Gheto inhabitants for deportation
