What is a minimum patient database?
PCV, Total Solids/Proteins, Blood Glucose, and Blood Urea Nitrogen
What does a Total protein test tell about the patient?
Plasma protein levels
What does a PCV test tells us about the patient
% of RBCs in blood
What does the blood glucose show on a test result?
A measure of the animal’s nutritional level, but it is more often used to monitor metabolism and physiology.
What will a BUN test tell us about a patient?
Kidney function & hydration status.
What is a the “normal” ranges for a PCV on a canine?
39 - 56%
What is the “normal” range of a BUN for an adult canine.
8-27 mg/dl
What is the “normal” range of a BUN for an adult feline?
15-35 mg/dl
What is the “normal” range of a blood glucose for an adult canine?
73-115 mg/dl

What other tests would be a good idea to run before a anesthetic procedure?
CBC, ALT, Coagulation panels, Electrolytes
What is the purpose of a client consent form
Covers client and practices legal rights.
What should be included in a client consent form?
Patient name, identification, specific procedures, potential risks, DVMs name, items being declined by the client, and client signature.
How is a physical exam done by a veterinarian and by a tech different?
DVMs exam is for dignosis, Techs is for efficient patient care and needs.
What vitals are checked during a physical exam?
Temperature, pulse, heart rate, mucus membrane, weight, respiration, Capillary refill time.
