Q

How would you define global health compared to international health?

A

Global health involves improving the fluidity and links of health issues across the world whereas intl. health consisted more of isolating them within countries. It also emphasises a greater role played my medical professionals instead of policy makers as well as enhanced cross-disciplinary. Finally there was a focus on achieving health equity instead of equality as this would ensure that areas worst affected were addressed

Q

What happened to the state of international health during the 1970s onwards?

A

Neoliberalism and globalization emerged within the global health agenda which lead the World Bank and IMF to take a lead role in international health as they were more aware of the whole situation. This meant the WHO retreated in its role in determining global health
