Nationalism- France
France hated Germany because they declared war on Prussia and Germany won. They made a treaty that France had to pay Germany’s reparation costs the war. The French wanted revenge.
Russia
Long standing hatred with France after Napoleon attempted to invade and destroy Russia. Also at odds with Great Britain after they refused to let her have access to trade routes in the Mediterranean.
Great Britian
Had been at war on and off with France for 500 years. Had the largest empire and was the envy of all great powers in Europe.
Germany
Wanted to become a great and powerful empire. To do this she had to take colonies away from other countries and threatened colonies of Great Britian, France and the Dutch who were annoyed by these antics.
Austria- Hungary
A collection of countries in Central Europe. It was the weakest of powers and many members wished for independence.
New roles for Women
While the men were fighting the women had to replace their jobs
Women could be nurses or ambulance drivers at the war and women at home worked in factories, farms, police forces etc.

The Treaty Of Versailles
On November 11, 1918 agreed to withdraw its troops and surrender to Great Britian.
On June 23 Germany agreed to sign the treaty, although she could not pay the war reparations and it didn’t create long term peace.
