- INFECTIVE ENDOCARDITIS
How does infective endocarditis present? (acute and chronic)
Acute flu like illness
Murmur (aortic regurgitation) in later stages
if chronic-
flu like illness first
usually after a dental procedure
Management of an MI?
Morphine
Oxygen
Nitrites (GTN)
Aspirin
+
Clopidogrel
PCI If within 120mins or thrombolysis
Angina management?
BB or CCB
>N spray
SOB differentials? (7 things)
- Asthma
- COPD
- Pneumonia
- PE
- HF
- Pneumothorax
- Malignancy
What must you remember when asking about PMH ?
Ask about specific conditions!
e.g if they are SOB ask about asthma, COPD or heart disease
What must you always ask about FH in a patient presenting with palpitations ?
Any sudden death?
What is sciatica and how would you manage it? (4 things)
Lower nerve impingement of the sciatic nerve.
- assure ptx that symptoms do start to settle within a few weeks
- Paracetamol
- Light exercises
- Provide leaflets
- Assess psychological effects. (ask about how this has altered activity)
