Histology Of Rbcs Flashcards
Rbcs?
Are non nucleated( no division) and rounded bioconcave with an average of 7.5 micrometers or 6 to 9 micrometers
Dimensions of RBCS?
6-9 micrometers with an average of 7.5
What is a typical RBC shape
Is a rounded biconcave, which is thick at the periphery and thin at the center
The color of rbc
Single RBC are greenish yellow. But rbcs together are red due to the protein hemoglobin
Name the abnormal shapes of rbcs and their characteristics
Sphrenocytosis—-> slightly swollen
Sickle——> sickle shaped c shaped
Poikilocytes—-> pear shaped
Crenation——-> shriveled
Swollen——> extremely swollen cell
Define polycythemia
Increased number of red blood cells
Anemia?
Shortage of red blood cells
Hyperchromic ?
Deeply stained at periphery and center red blood cell due to increase of a protein called hemoglobin
Hypochromic?
Slightly stained RBC due to shortage of HB present in cell
Mention the abnormal diameters of an RBC
RBC<6 micrometer (microcyte)
RBC>9 micrometer (macrocyte)
