Histology - Epithelium Flashcards
1
Q
Transitional Epithelium
Features
A
Dome-shaped, many layers (can be more than 2 cells thick), stereocilia
(Look like King’s Hawaiian Breadrolls)
2
Q
Pseudostratified Epithelium
Features
A
Coarse, fake stereocilia, Long, columnar-like cells that may not reach surface, touch basement membrane
(Look like Wine glasses stacked next to one another)
3
Q
Simple Epithelial
A
1 CELL THICK! Basement membrane at bottom, microvilli/cilia near the lumen Squamous - stretched out Cuboidal - 1 cube Columnar - 1 elongated cell
4
Q
Stratified Columnar
A
At most 2 cells thick. Apical cell is elongated. Bottom cells are attached to basement membrane. Can have microvilli on apical side.
5
Q
Difference btw cilia and stereocilia?
A
Basal bodies on cilia
