Histology - Blood And ConnTissue Flashcards
Macrophage Features
Many ugly inclusions from pathogens/dust
Lysosomes stained by w/ trypan blue
Clear Foamy cytoplasm
Mast Cell Features
Stain pink in LM
Many dark granules (histamine)
Lighter nucleus in comparison
Also stain with toluidine blue
Plasma B Cell Features
Big soccer ball nucleus,
Not so clear cytoplasm,
Negative Golgi stain compared to..
Extensive Rough ER
Brown Fat Features
Many clear inclusions, more heterogenous
brown periphery staining
Highly vascular, many mitochondria
Lymphocyte Features
Small leukocyte, Large nucleus relative to size. LM - Seen as very small dots
EM - have a LARGE nucleus and little cytoplasm
Eusinophil Features
Also describe lysosomes
Stain pink/red (compared to basophils) 2-5 Lobes of a segmented nucleus Looks like a HAMBURGA! Lysosomes look like a football (similar to peroxisome crystalline core)
Neutrophil Features
1 Cute non-segmented nucleus
many Granules
Collagen Fiber
3 helical collagen strands
LM - Fuzzy pinkish fibers
Elastin Fiber
LM - sharper dark fibers with distinct branch pattern
Seen with special orcein stain
Reticular Fibers
Collagen 3, Brownish color with silver staining
