1
Q

Whats the characteristics of Squamous cell carcinomas?

A

Keratin production and intercellular bridge-
But carcinomas are always NOT keratinising (oesophagus, vagina?)

SSC-use keratin as clue, but intracellular is more specific

Q

What are some used stains for histology?

A

Iron staining-useful

Amyloid stain (in glomerulus)-congo red
apple green Birefringent-go green

Immonohistological-AB’s that bind target, then AB that bind the first AB with a tag
e.g.: cytokeratin marker (epithelial cells)
CD45 marker (lymphoid marler)
Herpes simplex markers
