All of these religions have relationships with state power. Analyzing the world through religion (lens). Envisions itself as one that can apply to everyone, not tied to location. Not tied to region or people, actively spreading
what was stoicism?
the endurance of pain or hardship without a display of feelings and without complaint.
what are religions of salvation?
religions that traveled along trade routes that have a concept of the afterlife that is better for beleivers of the religion
What was Mithraism?
A Hellenistic mystery religion that appealed to soldiers and involved the worship of the god Mithra (persain deity). salvation religion.
What is the cult of isis?
Was a cult devoted the Egyptian goddess Isis. It allowed both men and women into the cult. They felt she was a protective goddess who neutered her worshipers and helped them coped with the stress. It also offered Salvation, Biggest religion of salvation prior to Christianity

What role did martyrs play in christianity
these people were killed for their belifs. Virtuous. Sense of persecution and importance to stand against it was a center belief. Jesus was a martyr

Knew what to do and how to act. (gospel, accounts of martyrs)

Codex (more like a book, bound, pages [flip], more portable [smaller]). Not a book (no spaces/punctuation, just a block of text)
