Anvil Test
Localized pain in thigh indicates femoral fx or severe pathologic condition of joint
Localized pain in leg indicates tibial or fibular fx
Pain localized to calcaneus indicates calcaneal fx
Ober Test
In presence of IT band contracture, leg will remain abducted; degree of abduction depends on amount of contracture present
Patrick Test
Pain in hip during maneuver, particularly on abduction and external rotation
Indicates coxa pathologic condition
Nobel’s Compression
Pain on extension of knee indicates IT band constrictures
Apley’s Compression Test
Pain indicates meniscus tear, depending on which way heel faces
Apley’s Distraction Test
Relief of pain indicates meniscus tear, depending on which way heel faces
Patellar Apprehension Test
If patella feels as if it is about to dislocate, pt will contract quadriceps and bring patella back into line
Bounce Home Test
Extension is not complete is positive test
Clarke’s Test
Retropatellar pain and failure to hold contraction is considered positive
Suggests chondromalacia patella
Drawer Test (anterior or posterior)
Tibia moves more than 6mm on the femur
Fouchet’s Test
Audible or palpable grating and pain confirm the sign
McMurray’s Sign
If at some point in the arc, painful click or snap is heard
Indicates meniscal injury
