A
Trochanteric - Avulsion of trachanter
Intertrochanteric - Between trochanters
Subtrochateric - Distal to trochanters

Why is an intracapsular fracture worse?
A
Disrupts blood supple via reticular arteries from medial and lateral circumflex femoral arteries causing a risk of AVN

What are the treatment options for an intracapsular fracture?
A
- Total hip replacement - if severe of comminuted
- Hemi arthroplasty
- Cannulated screws - If younger and no osteoporosis

A
- Intramedullary nail
- Dynamic hip screw - allows movement and remodelling
