hip anatomy Flashcards
what articulation does the hip joint consist of ?
articulation between the head of the femur and acetabulum of the pelvis
what is the only intracapsular ligament in the hip ?
the ligament goes from head of femur, runs from the acetabular fossa to the fovea of femur
what are the extracapsular ligaments in the hip ?
iliofemoral ligament
pubofemoral ligament
ischiofemoral ligament
what is the innervation of the hip joint ?
primarily by the sciatic, femoral and obturator nerves
what is the acetabular labrum ?
a fibrocartilaginous ring around the acetabulum which increases the depth.
what muscles are responsible for flexion at the hip ?
iliopsoas, rectus femoris, sartorius, pectineus
what muscles are responsible for extension at the hip ?
gluteus maximus, semimembranosus, semitendinosus, biceps femoris.
what muscles are responsible for abduction at the hip ?
gluteus medius, gluteus minimus, piriformis, tensor fascia latae
what muscles are responsible for adduction at the hip ?
adductors longus, breves and Magnus, pectineus, and gracilis
what muscles are responsible for lateral rotation at the hip ?
biceps femoris, gluteus maximus, prirformis.
what muscles are responsible for medial rotation at the hip ?
anterior fibres of the gluteus medius and minimus, tensor fascia latae.
