Clinical features of Hepatitis E

A

Hepatic injury is usually mild
1. Prodromal Phase (1-2 weeks) : Fever, Malaise, Anorexia, Nausea,Vomiting, RUQ, Tender hepatomegaly

  1. Icteric Phase (2 weeks): Jaundice, dark urine, pale stool, pruritus
  2. Resolving of symptoms

Confirmatory test by looking for anti-HEV IgM/IgG antibodies
- HEV RNA by PCR in stool and serum sample
