If rna neg, may miss low level viraemia
If pos, risk of perinatal transmission of 5%

Hcv rna-at 3/12- if neg-hcv antibody at 18/12
OR
Hcv ab test at 12-18months-if positive, for referral to paeds gastro

A
3-5%
Increased risk with high viral load, invasive procedures and PROM

Treatment for HCV
A
Not recommended during pregnancy and BF
If on ribaviran - must use reliable contraception during and for 6/12 after tx
