Hematology CCRN Flashcards
want to keep Hgb:
greater than 7
give blood if not
Hypothermia with blood administration
use blood warmer
Coagulopathy with blood administration
Coagulopahty (d) any disruption of hemostasis could be clotting or bleed
Give FFP & Plts along with PRBC’s
Blood product administration has the risk of ____ & ____
d/t:_______
hypocalcemia & hypomagnesemia
d/t: binding with citrate
Blood administration is associated with decreased O2 available to the tissues d/t:
inadequate 2,3-DPG in blood from the bankl
Blood administraion has the risk of (2)
hemolytic and non hemolytic reactions
hemolytic reaction (d) transfused red blood cells are destroyed by the
MTP protocol
- stop the bleed
- prevent the triad of death
(acidosis, coagulopathy, hypothermia) - administer balanced transfusion of products
1:1, PRBC > FFP > Plts
DIC
clotting problem
- activation of cloting consumes all clotting factors
- always secondary to problems such as:
- trauma, OB emergency, dissceting aneurysm, massive transfusions d/t bleeding,
- epothelial damage d/t cardiac arrest, sepsis or AAA
S/S
* low: platlets, Hct, fibrinogen
* high: d-dimer, PT, PTT, INR
