- chest wall

What can occur when a tumor spreads to the area of the chest wall?
A
It can obstruct the superior vena cava. This vein returns blood to the heart. So when it is blocked it stops blood flow and can lead to jugular vein distension, puffy face/neck

Manifestation of superior vena cava syndrome
A
- upper extremity edema
- facial plethora (resulting from the blood pooling in one area)
- jugular vein distension
- blurry eyes (resulting from excessive pressure on the veins)
- shortness of breath
