Hem-Onc: Other cancer drugs Flashcards
Cisplatin: mech
Cross-link DNA
Cisplatin: uses
testicular, bladder, ovary, and lung carcinomas
Cisplatin: tox
Nephrotoxicity and acoustic nerve damage.
Prevent nephrotoxicity with amifostine (free radical scavenger) and chloride diuresis
Amifostine:
free radical scavenger, used to prevent nephrotoxicity in cisplatin and carboplatin
Carboplatin: mech
cross-link DNA
Carboplatin: uses
testicular, ovary, bladder, and lung carcinomas
Carboplatin: tox
Nephrotoxicity, and acoustic nerve damage.
Prevent nephrotoxicity with amifostine (free radical scavenger) and chloride diuresis
Etoposide: mech
CCS: G2 phase
eTOPOside inhibits TOPOisomerase II –> increased DNA degredation
Etoposide: uses
solid tumors (particularly testicular and small cell lung cancer), leukemias, lymphomas
Etoposide: tox
Myelosuppression, GI irritation, alopecia
Teniposide: mech
CCS: G2 phase
Inhibits topoisomerase II –> Increased DNA degredation
Teniposide: uses
Solid tumors (particularly testicular and small cell lung cancer), leukemias, lymphomas
Teniposide: tox
Myelosuppression, GI irritation, alopecia
Irinotecan: mech
Inhibit topoisomerase I and prevent DNA unwinding and replication
Irinotecan: uses
Colon cancer
Irinotecan: tox
Severe myelosuppression, diarrhea
Topotecan: mech

Topotecan: uses
Ovarian and small cell lung cancers
Topotecan: tox
Severe myelosuppression, diarrhea
Topotecan: tox
Severe myelosuppression, diarrhea
