-wash hands/ put gloves on
-check for proper body alignment
-discuss distance with client
-check for non slip shoes

Standing from chair

-ask client to move forward on seat
-knees and feet should be shoulder width apart with feet flat on floor
-stand on weak side
-ask client to put hand on chair arm
-ask client to rock forward three times and push up from chair on count of three
-place hand near back in case they need support
-ask client if they’re steady
-ensure body alignment is correct

walking with standby assistance

-state clients destination
-walk with consumer, standing slightly behind and to one side with your arm near their back
-assist consumer to their destination

Assisting client to sit

-ask client to stand with back to the chair slowly movie backwards until they are standing centered in front of the chair and can feel the chair seat on the back of their legs
-ask them to reach behind and place their non affected hand on the chair arm
-ask client to ease into chair on count of three
