2
Q

this layer of the pericardium is tough, the outermost layer, prevents overdistension, and helps anchor the heart

7
Q

describe pericarditis

A

inflammation causes increased fluid build up. the fibrous layers of the heart will not expand which compreses heart and leads to cardiac tamponade

cardiac tamponade: extra fluid builds up in the space around the heart. This fluid puts pressure on the heart and prevents it from pumping well.
