Q

Site the steps for sound propagation

A

outer ear: aerotympanal conduction to the eardrum.
middle ear: sound conduction wia ossicles and sound wolume adjustment (muscle tensor tympani muscle).
Innerear: cochlear transforms acoustic stimuli in electricale xcitation.

Q

Develop the sound propagation in the inner ear.

A

Vibration of basilar and tectorial membranes. bending of stereocilia of outer hair cells, it amplifies the travveling wave and inner cells get activated. and release neurotransmitters. This stimulates the cochlear or auditory nerve and forwarding to the brain.

Q

What happens when the stereocilia of outer cells hair bends ?

A

it activates tip links and that open ion channels and allow ions to ented the cells.

Q

What is the fletcher munson curve ?

A

a measur of sound pressure over frequency for a perceived constant loudness: the higher the frequency is, tje louder is the sound perceived.

16
Q

Site the principle of the cochlear implant.

A

1 exxternal speech processor captures sound and converts it to digital signals.
2 processor send digital signals to internal implants.
3 internal implants turns signal into electrical energy sending it to an array inside the cochlea.
4 electrodes stimulate shearing nerve bypassing damaged hair cells and the brain perceives signals.

17
Q

SIte limitations and requirements for cochlea implants.

A

low frequencies not possible
electrodes short circuited due to conductive perilymphatic fluid.
need progamming with computer
rehabilitation necessary.

18
Q

What are the demands concerning the microphone ?

A

Wide band frequency responses except for lower frequencies (=disturbances), increasing of speech frequency response, filtering of ambien noise.

19
Q

What are the solutions concernning the microphone ?

A

Directionnal micropphones, positioning in the ear canal.

20
Q

How is ensured the transcutaneous conenction in the cochlear implant ?

A

The external coil induce power and send data to the implant unit wirelessly using magnetic infuction(L), the implant coil collect dta and receive power and send data to external coil.

21
Q

Site the three way of stimulation mode of the cochlear implant.

A

Monopolar/bipolar/common ground.
