Glaucoma Flashcards
What is the aqueous humor
A liquid secreted from the posterior chamber to the anterior chamber that fill the space between the lens a the cornea and provides nutrient to the lens and the cornea.
What is the pathophysiology in glaucoma
The aqueous humor does not drain properly (due to corticosteroids deposit, trabecular mesh work injuries or diabetes)
What is a normal and what is a pathological pressure in glaucoma ?
Normal is 15,5
Pathological is 22 mmHg
Why this pressure is armful ?
Circulatory disorder, the blood in sufficiently driven to the optical nerve and nerve fibers die
Site three type of diagnostic means in glaucoma
Goldman Tonometer
Pneumotonimeter
Gonioscopy
What is the principle of Goldman tonometer
Pressure applied with a stick to the cornea
What is the principle of pneumotonometer
Déformation of cornea with a air steam
What is the principle of gonioscopy
The angle of the anterior chamber is measured with a gonioscope but it is really inaccurate
Site thé différent type for glaucoma treatment
Surgery - laser - pharmaceutical (beta blocker. Adrenalin)
What is the glocoma valve
An implant for glaucome, when the pressure is too high the aqueous humor fills the tube and is then driven into a pokey and lead out the eye
Describe system concept for implant
Pressure sensor in artificial intraoculaire lens
Transponder chip and micro coil on the non optical part of the lens
External télémétrie component into Googles
Combine drainage surgery with cataract surgery
The capacitance change of the pressure changes too (C(gesamt) = C0 + []C(p)
