What are the CDM regulations and why are they important?
CDM aims to improve h&s by sensibly planning the works so that the risks involved are managed throughout the process and have the right people involved at each point in time.
What are the changes to CDM 2015?
There used to be an approved code of practice however now it has more structured guidance.
What is your role under CDM and how do you fulfil this?
Designer:
- Providing information to assist the other parties in the team fulfil their duties. Helping to ensure the design is safe, fit-for-purpose and can be constructed and maintained safely.

What is the HSE?
Health and Safety Executive - independent watchdog for work related H&S. Ensure that risks are managed properly within the workplace.
How is the HSE notified of site works?
Client submits and F10 notification to the HSE to inform them of a relevant project.
This is required if the works are over 30 working days and have over 20 operatives on site or if the person days total over 500 days.
