It is a non profit independent organisation founded in 1997 to improve the image of the construction industry. Encourages best practise, prompting cleanliness and noise reduction

Who was Suzy Lamplugh?
She was 25 and an estate agent working in London. In 1986 she left the office to view a property and was never seen gain, she is presumed murdered. A charity was founded in her name to raise awareness about personal safety to reduce the risk of violence and aggression.

What does a CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) allow you to do?
Work on construction sites. RICS membership allows you to apply for the card, you have to pass a CITB H&S test. As a chartered surveyor, you would apply for the professionally qualified person’s card. As an apprentice, you can qualify for a trainee card.

What is the difference between chronic and transmitted diseases?
Chronic is from exposure too hazardous material eg asthma, dermatitis.
Transmitted is from exposure to an organism eg legionnaires, Lyme disease
Tell me about Reporting of Injuriew, Diseases and Dangerous Occurences Regulations 1995
The trigger date for reporting is over 7 days of incapacitation. Such an injury must be reported to HSE within 15 days of the accident. All employees must keep a record of all injuries over 3 days. Accident book must be kept for a minimum of 3 years.
What are the construction (design & management) regulations 2015?

From January 2021, the UK will have its own framework for COSHH that will reflect the EU framework but will operate independently.
Explain any recent changes to Part B that you are aware of
In June 2022, the government updated Approved Document B to introduce new rules for external walls and balconies for new blocks of flats to limit the combustability of materials used in external walls of buildings.
Explain your understanding of the Fire Safety Act 2021
The fire safety act 2021 was a product of the Fire Safety Bill, following the Grenfell Tower fire in 2017. It amends the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
The aim is to prevent similar tragedies to Grenfell Tower from happening again. 72 people died.
It applies to blocks of flats.
The Fire Safety Act 2021 extends the provisions of the Fire Safety Order to include the structure, external walls eg cladding, common parts, doors between individual premises.
What is the role of the Building Safety Regulator?
The Building Safety Regulator is part of HS3 and was established under the Building Safety Act 2022 to regulate higher risk buildings, raise safety standards of all buildings, help construction professionals to improve their competence.
