Why is the Health any safety at Work Act 1974 relevant to me as an RICS surveyor?
It is highly relevant to you as an RICS surveyor because it places a legal duty on professionals to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of themselves and others during their work.
Key areas:
1) Duty to Protect Others, to take reasonable steps to ensure your work does not pose risks to the health and safety of others
2) Risk Management, the Act requires you to manage risks responsibly and take appropriate action.
3) Legal Compliance, ensuring compliance with safety standards under the Act.
4) Safe Practices, the Act supports safe working practices such as use of PPE
5) Emergency Response, if you identify immediate risk, required to inform responsible person and provide guidance on mitigating the risk.
