What does a breach of the 1974 Act risk?
Employers risk an unlimited fine and/or up to 2 years imprisonment
What does the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 Cover?
The regulations apply to most workplaces apart from construction work/sites and cover various Health and Safety issues such as ventilation, workstations, falling objects and windows
When is the Corporate Manslaughter and Homicide Act 2007 relevant?
When the actions of a company lead to a gross breach of their duty and the death of an employee or contractor.

- To commission an asbestos survey and report to identify type, location, amount and any ACMs.
Who can remove asbestos?
if asbestos needs to be removed, it should be done so by a licenced contractor at least 14 days before works start.

That all surveyors should have undertaken asbestos training as per regulation 10 of control of asbestos regulations 2012.

Applies to all construction work on non-domestic and domestic properties.
What does the Personal Protective Equipment at Work (Amendment) Regulations 2022 require?
- To provide a safe working environment, safe work equipment, safe systems of work and training to ensure all staff are competent
- supply PPE including steel toe cap boots, hi vis jackets, safety helmets, hard hats and gloves.
What is a key concept introduced by the guidance note?
- Safe Person
Means that a surveyor must assume responsibility for their own safety and colleagues in the workplace.

What is a risk?
The probability that someone or something will be harmed.
What is HSE role?
It is the UKS national Authority for managing work related health, safety and illness issues.
When do you need to inform HSE of works?
- More than 30 days AND have more than 20 works on site simultaneously
- Works exceed more than 500 person days
