PIER

A

Pressure- increases pressure on blood vessels making it harder for fluid to leak out
Ice - causes vasoconstriction therefore reduces the amount of swelling
Elevation- uses gravity to assist fluid drainage in the area
Rest- ceases damage to the area by not placing stress on injured structures
