Malignancy of unknown primary found in neck, biopsy modality
A
Start with FNA and then to core needle. Do not do excisional if not prepared to do complete dissection.

Next steps after biopsy proven carcinoma from neck mass
A
- CT head/neck/chest with contrast
- PET scan
- through endoscopic evaluation of nasopharyngeal mucosa.

Treatment for thyroglobulin negative/calcitonin negative neck mass
A
Neck dissection with adjuvant radiotherapy (or chemoradiation if extranodal extension)

Hard signs of neck trauma indicating operative intervention
A
- Hypotension/shock
- Pulsatile bleeding
- Expanding hematoma
- Crepitus or air leaking through wound
- Neurologic deficit
- Airway compromise

Non operative work up for penetrating neck injury
A
- CTA neck
- Esophagram +/- EGD
- Laryngoscopy/bronchoscopy if concern for airway injury
