What is unique about C1 and C2 vertebrate?
A
C1: Atlas. Articulates with skull base + C2. NO VERTEBRAL BODY. Has transverse foramen though (for vertebral artery)
C2: Articulates with C1 + C3. Dens (spinal component) forms pivot for atlanto-axial joint rotation
These 2 vertebrate allow for rotation + flexion/ extension
