Abdominal Imaging Flashcards
What runs through the aortic hiatus?
Abdominal aorta, azygus vein, and thoracic duct.
What gets supplied by celiac trunk? T12.5
Foregut: Esophagus stomach duodenum liver gall bladder pancrease spleen (since it's from dorsal mesentery)
What does abdominal aorta supply (though superior mesentery artery)? (L1)
Midgut: Pancrease duodenum (distal) jejunum ileum cecum appendix ascending colon transverse colon
What is supplied by inferior mesenteric artery (L3)?
Hindgut: Transverse colon descending colon sigmoid colon rectum upper anal canal
Where does aorta bifurcate into right and left common iliac arteries? What part of peritineal is abdominal aorta? What vessel runs on the right side of abdominal aorta?
L4, just like the iliac crest. Abdominal aorta = retroperitoneal. Inferior vena cava runs on the rigth side.
What vertebral levels can you see the kidney?
T12-L3
Where does the right gonadal vein drain into? What about the left one?
Right: Directly into inferior vena cava
Left: left renal vein
WHat does IVC drain?
Primary retroperitineal viscera (visera in posterior abdominal wall.)
What does portal system drain?
Drains peritoneal and secondary retroperitineal viscera (gut)
What two veins drain into hepatic portal vein?
Superior mesenteric artery and splenic vein
Where do renal artery and gonad vessels come off at?
L1-L2
WHere is transumbilical plane? What is the corresponding dermatomal level?
- L3-L4
2. Corresponds to T10 dermatome
What organs are covered by anterior, visceral peritoneum?
Intraperitoneal organs: From most anterior to posterior --> Stomach Part 1 of duodenum jejunum, ileum cecum, appendix transverse sigmoid colon gall bladder Liver tail of pancrease spleen
What organs are covered by parietal peritoneum?
Retro peritoneal organs (at posterior, parietal peritoneum): From most anterior to posterior --> 2ndary: Parts 2, 3, 4 of duodenum ascending + descending colon upper rectum Head-neck-body of pancrease
Primary retroperitoneal: Abdominal aorta inferior vena cava ureters lower rectum anal canal kidneys suprearenal/adrenals lymph nodes
Where is transpyloric plane?
L1. Cuts through pyloris of stomach
