Q

How do you help a patient maintain dignity & respect when providing personal care?

A

I will help maintain a patients dignity by allowing them to have the space and privacy they deserve. However, i also have a duty to provide patients with the care they need. Therefore, If I come
with across a Situation like this, my first priority is to show emPathy, and also by having an open line of communication.

By doing this, patients Can take leadership of their own needs & they can inform me when they’re unhappy with something and require assistance

In a situation where they want to be left alone, I would say to the client, “I hear what you are saying. I will come back and check on you in 20 minutes”. I would then inform a nurse of the situation and ask their opinion before going back to my client

at the end of the day everyone deserves to be treated with the upmost respect
