Q

How are volcanoes formed from destructive plate boundaries?

A

oceanic plate is heavier so is forced underneath the continent which generates heat causing the continent to melt. Then the melted molten rock can be forced to the surface of the earth forming a volcano

Q

Impacts on people and landscape

A
  • loud blast causes noise pollution
  • heat from eruption melted snow and ice released lots of litres of water
  • local people evacuated from home
  • 57 total deaths
  • damage results in billions to rebuild
  • eruption knocked out telphone lines (no way to call for help)
  • mud flow choked rivers killing all life
  • flights were cancelled because of poisonous gases and ash
