Definition of putting people in fear of violence under the harassment act 1997
‘There is a course of conduct by the suspect, this course of conduct causes another person to fear, on at least two occasions, that violence will be used against him or her, and the suspect knows, or ought to know, the course of conduct will cause the other this fear on each of those occasions.’

Definition of harassment
S1 - ‘A person must not pursue a course of conduct which;
Amounts to harassment of another and which he knows, or ought to know, amounts to harassment of the other’
S1(a) A person must not pursue a course of conduct which;
Involves harassment of two or more persons, and which he knows or ought to know involves harassment of those persons, and
By which he intends to persuade any person (whether or not one if those mentioned above), not to
do something that he is entitled or required to do, or to so something that he is not under any obligation to do.
A person who pursues a course of conduct in breach of section (1) or (1A) is guilty of an offence.’
