Kick to Groin

Op throws a telegraphed kick

A

Primary Danger: Line of Fire

  1. Step to eleven o’clock (off-line).
  2. Outside hand checks leg/Inside hand punch to side of neck.
  3. Outside hand hugs arm/ Inside hand slaps back of neck.
  4. Grab shirt and pull down.
  5. Side Control P.O.R.

Front Choke Static

You’ve been grabbed at the neck. Op’s thumbs are on your throat.

A

Primary Danger: Thumbs on Throat

  1. Cup hands and snap down to disconnect./Knee or kick to groin.
  2. Left hand maintains hold on op’s arm/ right elbow to neck.
  3. Outside or Clinch P.O.R.

Front Choke Pushing

You’ve been grabbed at the neck. Op’s thumbs are on your throat and he is pushing you backwards.

A

Primary Danger: Balance

  1. Run back while moving offline.
  2. Turn 90° to establish base.
  3. Forward arm up next to head and then sweep elbow down to disconnect. Rear arm cradles op’s arms.
  4. Forward elbow to neck.
  5. Outside P.O.R.

Side Choke Static

You’ve been grabbed at the neck from the side. Op’s hands are squeezing your throat.

A

Primary Danger: Thumbs on Throat

  1. Both arms with cupped hands snap arm down to unplug.
  2. Inside arm whips down to groin strike with back of hand.
  3. Same arm, uppercut to chin.
  4. Rotate elbow while maintaining contact and grab neck.
  5. Outside elbow to neck.
  6. Clinch P.O.R.

Side Choke Pushing

You’ve been grabbed at the neck from the side. Op’s hands are squeezing your throat and he is pushing you.

  1. Recover balance with side shuffle to offline position. Establish base.
  2. Forward arm up next to head and then sweep down to unplug. Rear arm cradles op’s arm.
  3. Forward elbow to neck.
  4. Outside P.O.R.

You’ve been grabbed at the neck from behind. Op’s hands are on your throat and he is pulling you.

A

Primary Danger: Balance

  1. Step back to 7 o’clock.
  2. Left hand across chest and pin op’s thumb. / Right hand to groin x2.
  3. Right elbow up to chin.
  4. Rotate using elbow to hold contact. Grab.
  5. Left elobow to neck.
  6. Clinch P.O.R.

Rear Choke Pushing

You’ve been grabbed at the neck from behind. Op’s hands are on your throat and he is pushing you.

A

Primary Danger: Balance

  1. Step off-line at 45°.
  2. Outside arm up to head.
  3. Rotate your body and hammer raised fist or forearm to op’s neck.
  4. If attacker continues momentum due to off-balance, use striking arm to hook neck. Grab Op’s arm with yourother hand and flow into knee strike.
  5. Redirect Op’s momentum to bring them into P.O.R.

Bear Hug - Arms Pinned

Op has wrapped his arms around you, capturing your arms.

A

Primary Danger: Being Throw to the Floor.

  1. Base / Lift arms at elbows to cradle op’s arms.
  2. Swing hips and strike groin x2.
  3. Elbow to solarplexis.
  4. Hip Bump.
  5. Right elbow up to chin.
  6. Rotate using elbow to maintain contact. Grab neck.
  7. Left elbow strike to neck.
  8. Clinch P.O.R.

Bear Hug - Arms Free

Op has wrapped his arms around you, your arms are free.

A

Primary Danger: Being Thrown to the Floor.

  1. Base.
  2. Groin x2. Opposite elbow to head.
  3. Strike with knuckles to the back of op’s hands.
  4. Hook thumbs behind one of op’s forearms.
  5. Push hips forward to break grip and follow arm.
  6. Step into op, inside arm hammers forearm to neck / outside arm wraps arm.
  7. Side Control P.O.R.

Lapel Grab - Before Punch

Op has grabbed your clothing with one hand. Op may throw a punch.

A

Primary Danger: Impending Punch.

  1. Same side hand pins op’s hand to chest / kick to groin.
  2. Rotate body to deliver elbow, while keeping op’s hand pinned.
  3. Step into Side Control P.O.R.

Alternative:

  1. Same side hand pins Op’s hand to chest.
  2. Palm strike to face, into a side elbow.
  3. Slide into P.O.R.

Lapel Grab - With Punch

Op has grabbed your clothing with one hand and is throwing a punch.

A

Primary Danger: Punch

  1. 90° block. / Pin op’s hand.
  2. Hammer to neck.
  3. Step around op’s leg while driving forward to break their balance.
  4. Shoot arm out, pop leg and hold arm on the way down.
  5. Stretch P.O.R.

Side Headlock - High Position

Op has wrapped an arm around your neck (your neck is in Op’s arm pit).

A

Primary Danger: Op’s Free Hand

  1. Grab op’s free hand (inside or outside elbow) with inside hand.
  2. Outside hand to groin x2.
  3. Switch outside hand to holding op’s hand.
  4. Inside hand goes over op’s head and middle and index finger hook nose.
  5. Push up, back, and down to roll op over leg.
  6. Stretch Out P.O.R.

Side Headlock - Low Position

Op has wrapped an arm around your neck (your neck is in Op’s arm pit) and has bent over.

A

Primary Danger: Op’s Free Hand

  1. Outside hand blocks blows. Inside hand grabs op’s free hand inside or outside the elbow.
  2. Outside hand forms V and strike op’s knee forward and towards the center of his body.
  3. Stomp on ankle and ?

Rear Headlock - Static

Op has wrapped an arm around your neck from behind. He will probably grab his own wrist to reinforce the pressure of his forearm or he might slide into a Rear Naked Choke.

A

Primary Danger: Choke

  1. Base / grab op’s arm.
  2. Lean forward to lift op onto toes.
  3. Bend forward and away from the elbow that us holding you to flip op (hold onto arm).
  4. Stretch out P.O.R.

Rear Headlock - Pulling

Op has wrapped an arm around your neck from behind and is pulling you backwards. He will probably grab his own wrist to reinforce the pressure of his forearm or he might slide into a Rear Naked Choke.

A

Primary Danger: Balance

  1. Step back to regain balance and off-line to 5 or 7 o’clock.
  2. Wrap outside leg around op’s leg.
  3. Rotate 180° while maintaining grip on op’s arm.
  4. Inside elbow to op’s ribs. Immediately restore grip on op’s arm.
  5. Rotate your body down and away to flip op.
  6. Stretch out P.O.R.

Tackle - Outside

Op tries to slam his body into your waist. You need to keep from being grabbed (this is likely if you have lost control of a P.O.R. during a fight).

Op is still far enough away to prevent the tackle.

A

Primary danger: Op grabbing you.

  1. Step forward with your strong side elbow forward and bent 90°
  2. Immediately drop forward hand under armpit. Place rear hand on op’s far shoulder and rotate his torso.
  3. Rear leg swings out to step off-line and to roll op.
  4. Immobilize.

Tackle - Inside

Op is closer than arms length and he is tackling you.

A

Primary Danger: Poor position on ground.

  1. Op has already grabbed you around the waist and is driving you to the ground.
  2. Sit down as you grab op’s back.
  3. Hook right leg inside op’s left leg.
  4. Use momentum and your left leg to roll over your right shoulder.
  5. Goal is to end up in full mount.
  6. Palm strikes and hammer op’s head on the ground x3.
