Androgenic alopecia
hair loss characterized by terminal hair miniaturization and a shortened anagen phase. It can affect anyone and is caused by genetics, age, or hormonal changes
Postpartum alopecia
Most people experience temporary hair loss one to five months after delivery.
Typically, the cycles regulate within six to 12 months.
Minoxidil
a topical medication applied to the scalp. It has been proven to stimulate hair growth and comes in two different strengths: 2 percent minoxidil and 5 percent minoxidl
Finasteride
oral prescription medication. Finasteride is more effective and convenient to take than minoxidil. However, it may have negative side effects, including birth defects in a male fetus

the technical term for gray or white hair
Ringed hair
a variety of canities characterized by alternating bands of gray and pigmented hair throughout the length of the hair strand.
Hirsuties
the growth of terminal hair on a woman’s body in areas that typically do not have terminal hair, such as the upper lip (mustache area), chin and cheeks (beard area), and chest.

a condition in which hair grows longer or thicker than usual

the technical term for split ends
Trichorrhexis nodosa
the technical term for knotted hair. It is characterized by brittleness and the formation of nodular swellings along the hair shaft. When in this state, hair breaks easily, and the broken fibers spread out like a brush along the hair shaft.
Monilethrix
the technical term for beaded hair. The hair has a beaded appearance due to narrowing of the hair shaft. The hair is brittle and breaks easily
Fragilitas crinium
the technical term for brittle hair. The hairs may split or break at any part of the hair strand. Causes include excessive exposure to UV rays, mechanical and chemical abuse, and pulling the hair tightly into braids or ponytails.
Pityriasis
the technical term for dandruff, which is characterized by the excessive production and shedding of skin cells
malassezia
naturally occurring fungus that is present on all human skin; fungus that causes visibly shed skin cells, or dandruff, that can sit on the scalp and create dryness, itchiness, and discomfort

the technical term for classic dandruff characterized by scalp irritation, large flakes, and an itchy scalp.
