gonorrhoeae
Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by infection with the Neisseria
gonorrhoeae bacterium. N. gonorrhoeae infects the mucous membranes of the
reproductive tract, including the cervix, uterus, and fallopian tubes in women, and the
urethra in women and men.
Chlamydia
Overview. Chlamydia (kluh-MID-e-uh) trachomatis (truh-KOH-muh-tis) is a common sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by bacteria. You might not know you have chlamydia because many people don’t have signs or symptoms, such as genital pain and discharge from the vagina or penis.
What causes chlamydia?
Chlamydia is a bacterial infection. The bacteria are usually spread through sex or contact with infected genital fluids (semen or vaginal fluid). You can get chlamydia through: unprotected vaginal, anal or oral sex.
