Guttate Psoriasis Definition
A
- Small drop like salmon pink papule with a fine scale
- Usually occurs on trunk and proximal extremities
- Can be caused by GAS infection
- Can be unrelated

Guttate Psoriasis Epidemiology
A
- In individuals younger than 30
- Genetic predisposition
- Mostly associated with a strep infection

Guttate Psoriasis Presentation
A
- Multiple, discrete, drop-like, salmon-pink patches with fine scale
- Acute onset
- Antecedent streptococcal infection in most cases
- FHx of psoriasis
- Nail changes usually absent (more associated with chronic)
- Palms and soles rarely affected
- Mild itching
- Improves during summer worse during winter

A
- Nummular dermatitis
- Pityriasis rosea
- Lichen planus

Guttate Psoriasis Investigations
A
- Diagnosis is clinical
- Dermoscopy may be useful

Guttate Psoriasis Management
A
- Usually self-limiting within a few weeks without treatment, reassurance and emollients may be sufficient
- Phototherapy
- Topical treatment may be difficult due to extent of lesions

Guttate Psoriasis Prognosis
A
- Can go on to develop chronic plaque
- Can be recurrent due to pharyngeal carriage of strep
