How much more school shootings occurred in the time period of 2009-18 in the U.S. compared to the country in second place for most school shootings?

Results of the termination of Permit-to-purchase laws in Missouri

Distinction and differentiation that exists between buying a firearm from a Licensed dealer vs unlicensed dealer
While federal law requires background checks for all gun sales by licensed gun dealers, it does not require background checks for guns sold by unlicensed sellers, like non-dealers who sell guns online or at gun shows. This loophole enables people with felony convictions, domestic abuse restraining orders, and other people with prohibiting histories to buy guns with no questions asked. The loophole should be closed to require background checks on all gun sales—not just on the sale of firearms from licensed gun dealers
Effects of a universal background checking system
Implementing background checks on all gun sales is proven to reduce gun violence.
Background check laws also help prevent guns from being diverted to the illegal gun market. States without universal background check laws export crime guns across state lines at a 30% higher rate than states that require background checks on all gun sales
What is the percentage of criminals acquiring a firearm through unlicensed sellers?
Around 80% of all firearms acquired for criminal purposes are obtained through transfers from unlicensed sellers
What is the NICS (National Instant Background Checking System)?
NICS is FBI’s national system that checks records on persons who may be disqualified from receiving firearms.
What is a Federal Firearm License?
The Federal Firearm License is the permit administered to individuals engaging in commercial business activities pertaining to the manufacturing and selling of firearms.
Safer Communities Act
It implemented several changes to the mental health system, school safety programs, and gun safety laws. It was introduced by Senator Marco Rubio (R–FL) on October 5, 2021 as an unrelated bill, then consistently modified by an amendment by Senator Chris Murphy (D–CT) on June 21, 2022 and signed into law by President Joe Biden on June 25, 2022. Gun safety laws in the bill include extended background checks for gun purchasers under 21, clarification of Federal Firearms License requirements, funding for state red flag laws and other crisis intervention programs, further criminalization of arms trafficking and straw purchases, and partial closure of the boyfriend loophole.
Boyfriend loophole
The term boyfriend loophole refers to a gap in American gun legislation that allows access to guns by physically abusive ex-boyfriends and stalkers with previous convictions or restraining orders.
