Intermittent (when bleeding into cyst/ruptured cyst)
3 categories of LUTS?
Filling, voiding, incontinence
3 symptoms of a filling LUTS problem?
Urgency, frequency, nocturia
7 voiding LUTS symptoms?
Dysuria, hesitency, poor flow, incomplete emptying, dribbling (terminal/post-micturition), spraying, straining to urinate
5 incontinence LUTS symptoms?
Stress, urge, overflow, enuresis (nocturnal incontinence)
6 haematuria questions?
Duration, timing within stream, pain, trauma/exercise, fevers/rigors
How do the causes of initial/terminal haematuria and continual haematuria differ?
Initial/terminal = urethra/prostate/seminal vesicles/bladder neck Continual = bladder/ureta/kidney
What might painful haematuria suggest?
Renal calculus, infection
What might painless haematuria suggest?
Carcinoma kidney/bladder, papiloma bladder/prostate
6 sx UTI?
Frequency, dysuria, strangury, urgency, fever, confusion (especially elderly)
14 sx chronic renal failure?
Oliguria, nocturia, polyuria (secondary to increased urea solute load), anorexia, insomnia, anaemia (low erythropoietin), fatigue, metallic taste in mouth, vomiting, pruritis, oedema, easy bruising (abnormal platelet function), insomnia, sallow complexion, uraemic fever
4 closing GU history questions?
Past episodes (recurrent UTI, renal calculi), sexual history (STI), obstetric history, diabetic
2 drug history questions?
Rifampicin - red urine Contrast allergy (contrast CT etc)
6 social history questions?
Smoking, alcohol travel, occupation (rubber/dye - > bladder/renal cancer), sexual history (STI), dist (beetroot)
