  • Added to wine to boost color, Colorino del Valdarno shows best winemaking potential

Colorino del Valdarno:
* Pulp is clear instead of colored giving colorless juice when pressed
* Mostly found in Rufina zone
* Deep violet color full bodied and assertive - black fruit and green when not fully ripe

A

White: Greco and Greco Bianco
* Greco is a brand name, many of them are unrelated

Greco:
* Greco di tufo
* Great italian white with depth and structure flowers, peaches, honey
* Influenced by site (warmer = heavier)

Greco bianco:
* found in Calabria and is the same grape as Malvasia di Lipari but they look different
* Greco bianco di Ciro is not the same as greco bianco but actually another calabrian grape called Guardavalle
* Greco di Rogliano is Pecorello
* Greco Bianco del Pollino = Montonico Bianco
