Open Groups
ongoing and allows for new members to enter at any time
Typically used for support and life transitions
Can be distracting
Closed groups
time-limited, and new members can only join during the beginning stage

social workers determine the group’s purpose, members, objective, etc.

Where most of the group work is done

social worker lead members in discussing feelings of termination, focus on skills learned in the group
scapegoat
person that is blamed for wrongdoing
enmeshed
boundaries are unclear and pliable, boundaries are open within family unit but fixed with outer systems
disengaged
boundaries are rigid w/ little interaction and emotional engagement
family hierarchy
in order for family to function there needs to be someone delegated to power within the family structure
homeostasis
families remain regular or stable
alliances
partnerships or collaborations between certain members of a family
