What is ARROW?
A: airworthiness certificate R: registration certificate R: radio license O: operating instructions (POH/AFM) W: weight and balance, equipment list
What is the MEL?
Inventory of instruments and equipment that may legally be inoperative.
You should avoid starting engine with tail of plane pointed towards?
People standing nearby, property on ramp, open hangers, or other aircraft that could be damaged by wind blast from propeller.
Taxi speed is primarily controlled by ___ and secondarily by ____.
Throttle, brakes.
In windy conditions what do you use to control plane while taxiing?
Ailerons.
When do you use brakes when taxiing?
Only when reduction of engine rpm is not sufficient to slow plane.
What speed do you taxi at?
Brisk walk
In a headwind why should you be careful about pushing on the yoke too much?
It will want to put the tail up and nose down. This can bring the propeller closer to the ground and increase risk for propeller strike.
On rough ground how should you hold the yoke?
Aft to give more nose clearance.
With quartering headwinds how do you turn yoke?
Fully towards wind. So aileron on that side will be up. Keep elevation level.
How do you hold yoke in tailwind conditions?
Forward and level.
How do you hold yoke in quartering tailwinds?
Full turn yoke away from wind. Hold full forward.
If altimeter doesn’t read within ___ft you should consider postponing the flight.
75
What do you do if VSI pointer is not at zero during preflight check?
You may use that value that it is pointing at as zero.
What May low suction reading indicate?
Dirty air filter
