Problems with CN 7 may cause loss of sensation to the face. Name the condition.
Bells Palsy.
Innervates primarily to the face and scalp.
Opthalmic Nerve (Branch of Trigeminal)
Innervates primarily the cheek and the area lateral to the orbit.
Maxillary Nerve (Branch of Trigeminal)
Innervates the chin and temporal region.
Mandibular Nerve (Branch of Trigeminal)
Sudden attacks of severe pain occurring in an area of sensory distribution of the Trigeminal nerve.
Often due to touch.
Trigeminal Neuralgia
Pathological contraction of the SCM.
Torticollis (Wryneck)
Sign of congestive heart failure or obstruction of the superior vena cava. May also be found in opera singers or bagpipe players.
Prominent External Jugular Vein.
Most important vascular triangle.
Carotid Triangle. Common carotid bifurcates here into the internal and external carotid arteries.
Bone often broken in strangulation. No articulation with any other bone.
Hyoid.
Contents of the carotid sheath.

Greater Occipital Nerve
AKA Posterior Primary Ramus of C2. Supplies the occipital region.
Third Occipital Nerve
AKA Posterior Primary Ramus of C3. Supplies the upper part of the back of the neck.
Posterior Primary Ramus of C4.
Supplies the lower part of the back of the neck.
Lesser Occipital Nerve (C2)
Supplies the lateral part of the occipital region, posterior to the ear.
Great Auricular Nerve (C2, C3)
Supplies the angle of the mandible, and the area inferior to the ear. It accompanies the external jugular vein.
