Is a non-permanent member or a probationary member entitled to the grievance process?
No
Members who wish to present a grievance must file a written grievance with who?
The Director of the Human Resources Bureau.
How long does a member have to file a written grievance to the Director of the Human Resources Bureau?
Within ten (10) calendar days of the time they perceive the alleged inequity.
A submitted completed grievance form must detail the following:
- Identifying the grievance and the facts upon which it is based
- The allegation of the specific wrongful act and the harm done
- A statement of the remedy or adjustment sought
Each supervisors in the grieving member’s COC shall have how many days to review the grievance form?
Four (4) working days.
Each supervisor in the grieving member’s COC will complete the grievance form in the following manner:
- Acknowledge receipt by noting time, date and person reviewing the grievance
- An analysis of the facts or allegations
- Affirming or denying the allegations in the grievance
- Identifying any remedy or adjustment which could be made
Upon receipt of the grievance form, the bureau commander shall:
- Actively attempt to solve the grievance
- Advise the Chief Deputy of the existence of the grievance
The the bureau commander is unable to satisfactorily resolve the grievance, who may the individual appeal to?
The Sheriff
The Sheriff will attempt to respond to each grievance within
Twenty (20) working days unless the grievant and the Sheriff are jointly engaged in seeking a suitable remedy.
How often shall the Human Resources Bureau conduct an analysis of formal grievances?
Annually
