Sceptical of potential for cooperation, Putin is trying to reassert Russian influence and challenge American led world order. We wont be able to cooperate in Syria and wil continue to have a proxy war.
Accoring to McFaul Interview, what has moved russian cooperation post 1991 to today’s conflict?
we dont get along now because of Putin’s Zero sum world view. Putin is concerned that the USA will try to overthrow him.

What should be doing with regard to russia accordign to McFaul
domestic politics inside russia is key (important) and recognize that putin doesn’t liek the usa despite the common interests. we should punish putin for bad behavior, strengthen NATO, rebuild Ukraine, and dont try to isolate Russia
