Explain the contest between Athene and Poseidon?

A

A contest was held between Athene and Poseidon, whoever could present the greater gift to the city would have it named after them. Poseidon presented a stream, that gave the people of the city access to the ocean, allowing them to trade with foreigners. While Athene presented an Oliver tree with more uses, giving the win to Athene.

Explain the contest between Athen and Arachne.

A

Athene and Arachne have a weaving contest, and whoever could weave the best art would be declared the winner. Athene had weaved the gods using their power for justice while Arachne had weaved the gods using their power for misuse. This ended up getting the win for Arachne, and in the fury of rage, Athene killed Arachne. But in the heat of embarrassment, Athene revived Arachne as a spider, so that she could continue to weave.
